FORUM Spirit Advisory Council Hosts Italian Dinner to Benefit Agapé Therapeutic Riding
Indianapolis, Indiana, August 15, 2012 – Formed in 2005, the FORUM Spirit Advisory Council (FSAC) has worked toward facilitating community partnership on behalf of FORUM Credit Union employees. The FSAC consists of twelve staff employees and two officers who volunteer their time to coordinate philanthropic efforts each year. Employees are focusing their 2012 fundraising efforts on Agapé Therapeutic Riding Resources, Inc.
Agapé was founded in 1986 by Cheryl Miller and her daughter Dawn. They initially developed a summer riding program for children with disabilities using the therapeutic value of horses to rehabilitate. Due to great summer success, it became a full-time, year round program serving individuals and schools throughout central Indiana. Funds have been raised among FORUM employees through various activities including $5 jean days, a tax breakfast, a golf ball decorating contest, and more. Besides donating money, FORUM offers volunteer opportunities for employees including assisting in lessons, care for program horses, or help with special events.
FORUM employees also participated in an Italian Dinner Night on Tuesday, June 12. Employees were able to invite their family and friends to accompany them for a night of raffle prizes, Italian food, and special guest servers – the FORUM Officer Team. Around 350 tickets were sold resulting in over $5,000 for Agapé.
Over $10,000 has been raised to date and FORUM has already purchased a tractor for Agapé. Donations also provide needed scholarships, riding equipment, grounds equipment, or even therapy horses.
Jenny Budreau, FORUM’s Chief Operating Officer and FSAC leader, stated that the Italian Dinner Night was a great success. “Not only did we raise a substantial amount of money, our employees and their guests had a great time. FORUM Spirit’s purpose statement is ‘having fun and doing good’ and we accomplished that. More than fifty employees and their family members volunteered during the evening and more than twenty employee teams created silent auction baskets. It’s rewarding for our FORUM team as we continue to foster a work environment where employees can make a difference in our community.”
