FORUM Helps Members Become More Financially Savvy
Indianapolis, Indiana, November 2, 2009 – Over the past year, FORUM Credit Union has been helping members become more financially savvy through new venues including blogging, informational videos, and Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University classes. As a way to provide financial advice, FORUM encourages open dialogue with members through four different blogs hosted on FORUM’s website. Each blog serves a unique set of members. FORUM also provides FYI (For Your Information) Videos. These short informational videos can be found on FORUM’s website, www.forumcu.com, under Your Money. Video topics include first time home buying, college planning, retirement, budgeting, marriage, and more.
Additionally, FORUM offered four Financial Peace University classes this year, each class lasting 13 weeks. Dave Ramsey, a money management expert and popular national radio personality, created Financial Peace University – a program that teaches people how to make the right decisions with their money. Classes were held at FORUM’s Headquarters, Broad Ripple, Lawrence, and Southport locations. Thirty-one people graduated from these classes and as a group reduced their debt by a combined total of $120,850. This same group also saved a collective sum of $25,050.
“Providing members with sound financial advice is more important than ever. It is our goal to help members be in control of their money rather than their money controlling them. FORUM’s blogs, videos, and Financial Peace classes offer another way for members to ask questions, get advice, and become more financially savvy,” says C. Andrew Mattingly, Senior Vice President with FORUM Credit Union.
