FORUM Credit Union Announces “Pennies for Change TM”
-- Holiday launch of new national program helps give back to our community --
Indianapolis, Indiana, December 1, 2008 - FORUM Credit Union announces the launch of United Way of America’s philanthropic initiative Pennies for Change TM. This national program allows Forum Credit Union Members to donate one penny every time they use their credit or debit card. The pennies add up and all donations help fund local United Way programs in our community.
“With Pennies for Change, our members now have an effortless way to give back to their local United Way,” said C. Andrew Mattingly, SVP Marketing & Strategy, FORUM Credit Union. “And with our simple online sign-up screen, our members can join right from home,” he said.
According to the Nilson Report, more than 40 billion card purchases are made nationwide by Americans per year, Pennies for Change serves as a simple, but revolutionary way for consumers to donate just one penny to their local United Way every time they make a purchase. Its only about $2.40 per year, per person, but the pennies add up.
Pennies for Change was launched in December 2007, and has been operational and growing since that time. In addition to FORUM Credit Union, several other financial institutions have joined United Way’s Pennies for Change program as Charter Members, and are currently exploring ways to make the program available to their customers.
"United Way is about connecting people and organizations to one another. Pennies for Change is an opportunity for individuals to make a significant difference in their community one penny at a time.” said Alex Sanchez, senior vice president of Community Impact at United Way of America.
“We’re excited to support United Way in this worthwhile endeavor and look forward to helping our members take advantage of the Pennies for Change program for their communities,” said Mattingly.
