FORUM Credit Union Announces 2011 SaveItUp Challenge Winners
Indianapolis, Indiana, December 8, 2011 – FORUM Credit Union announces three SaveItUp Challenge winners for 2011. Participants were entered to win three cash prizes once they enrolled in the program, completed two financial steps, and met at least one goal. Three goal categories were offered: Savings, Debt Reduction, and Financial Education.
Savings Goal winner Miranda Thomson won a $1,000 Weekly 5 Club Account. FORUM’s Weekly 5 Club is a savings account that gives members a chance to win prizes by making regular deposits to their savings. When asked what she would do with her prize money, Ms. Thomson said she would continue paying off debt. Her favorite part of the Challenge was the encouragement she received from the FORUM Branch Manager who helped her.
The SaveItUp Challenge Debt Reduction goal winner of a $1,000 Weekly 5 Club Account went to Karey Kirkpatrick. Ms. Kirkpatrick described her reaction to winning as, “I just got engaged, so it was perfect timing!” She also stated that the Challenge helped her to think before spending money and to put aside savings first.
Gaby Kienitz, the Financial Literacy prize winner for the SaveItUp Challenge, described what she will do with her $500 Weekly 5 Club prize, “It will become part of my annual contribution to an IRA.” When asked what her favorite part of the Challenge was, Ms. Kienitz said, “The free credit check and analysis. I’ve wondered in the past what the numbers mean, and now I know.”
Additionally, FORUM offered four Financial Peace University classes again this year, each class lasting 13 weeks. Dave Ramsey, a money management expert and popular national radio personality, created Financial Peace University – a program that teaches people how to make the right decisions with their money. Classes were held at FORUM’s Noblesville, Lawrence, Park 100, and Headquarters locations. Thirty-three people graduated from these classes and as a group reduced their debt by a combined total of $214,704.
