What is Entrust IdentityGuard?
In compliance with the federal government to help prevent online identity theft and fraud, FORUM Credit Union utilizes a multi-factor authentication system called Entrust IdentityGuard. Entrust is a security software that is based on your username and password, and the second layer of authentication is based on the use of a cookie (the site will remember what browser it is being accessed from). If you prefer not to use the cookie, you can receive an email or text with a special code to login each time. You’ll then have thirty minutes to enter that code before the page expires. It is suggested that you have your mobile phone ready or your email already open due to this time constraint. For information on deleting cookies, click here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being asked for my computer to be “remembered?”
You can choose to have your computer “remembered” based on whether it is a private or public computer. If you choose to have it “remembered”, an encoded cookie will be dropped into your web browser and IP address. Each time you log in the system will look to see if that cookie is in existence from where you are logging in. If it is there you will not be required to input the security code.
Do I have to choose to have my computer “remembered”?
No, this is personal preference. If you choose not to have the computer “remembered” you will be required to enter the security code each time you login into CU Online.
I chose to have my computer “remembered”, but I keep getting asked the security code each time I login, why?
There could be a couple of reasons why this would occur. Are you logging in from the same IP address and web browser as you initially had the computer remembered on? If you change locations, if your web browser has been upgraded, or if you change your web browser the cookie will not be remembered and you will be required to input the security code. You may also want to check if your browser settings are set up to have your history and/or cookies deleted upon exit. If they are you will need to change these browser settings so that the cookie will be remembered and not deleted.
