A Letter to our Members

Stability in these tumultuous times? For FORUM the answer is yes. Your credit union’s financial history has been solid since we opened our doors in 1941. The credit union structure of being member owned is the driving force of our stability. Credit unions are truly a safe haven in these turbulent economic times.
Because we primarily hold the savings of our members, we have always operated in a manner which protects their deposits no matter what the national or world economic markets do. We have no reason to worry about a wavering stock market. We do not invest in high risk investments but rather in our members by providing loans and other services to help our members.
Nearly 67 years of faithful financial performance by your credit union has prevented any concern for our members. A good part of our envied record has been possible because of our members’ loyalty to their credit union. For many of our members, we are their only financial institution. We take that trust very seriously.
At this writing we have nearly 10% capital, which is greater than required by our regulators. Our intent is to continue to grow our capital and to faithfully provide the services our members and their families require. Stability in our service is an objective we have never taken lightly. We intend to continue operating as we always have, making loans to our members and offering competitive deposit rates.
Your deposits are insured by the NCUA, a federal government agency, up to at least $100,000. Plus, there are other possible ways to increase this coverage. You can find tools on this website to help you calculate how much of your deposits are covered by insurance. There are other website resources for more information.
We recognize numerous families in our credit union may have been impacted by lost jobs, plant closings and other financial incidents they did not see coming. For that reason, we have designed the We Can Help program to assist those who might appreciate some no-cost counseling. The needs may vary, but we offer this free service not as a hand-out, but as a hand-up, because many American families are experiencing some shortfall, perhaps for their first-time ever. This, too, should pass, but in the interim there may be a need for help.
It is about what is happening on Main Street not Wall Street, and FORUM will always be open for business on Main Street for our members.
