Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend, even though it was scorching hot! When it is super hot out, I like to spend my days inside. I will usually surf the internet. One of my favorite sites is Facebook. Even FORUM Credit Union is on Facebook!!
How many of us use Facebook on a regular basis? Probably all of us. I know I check Facebook at least once a day. We put our life stories on Facebook. I know alot of my friends have their birthdays, family member names, addresses, and other personal information on their Facebook page. Is this a good idea? Probably not. How many of us add a "friend" but we have no clue who they are? I know I have done that at least once. Definitely NOT a good idea! That person might be looking for personal information to use for their own benefit. We don't want to think that is a possibility, but in today's world it's something we should be thinking about.
Here are 3 tips from Nextadvisor.com to help protect you from identity theft while enjoying Facebook:
-
Limit the personal information on your page
-
Proactivly manage your privacy settings
-
Only "friend" those you know
Doing just a couple of things can really help protect you. Do you have any other ideas or thoughts on this?
