Lunch Money

Friday, 16 October 2009 16:01 by Courtney

Let's face it, even though we may usually pack our lunches during the work week, we're going to want to go out to lunch with our coworkers every once in a while.  The good news is there are still ways to save money when eating out for lunch.  Below are a few tips.

  • Go to a restaurant that doesn't require tipping a server.  This doesn't have to be fast food either.  What about Panera Bread, Five Guys, or Yats?
  • Don't purchase a beverage.  Ask for water instead.
  • Decide in advance how many times you'll go out for lunch during the work week.  It's much easier to say no to coworkers if you already have a plan.
  • Order a meal that will guarantee you have leftovers.  That way you can stretch your money and also have food for dinner.
  • Use "Buy One Get One Free" coupons and split the cost of one lunch meal with a coworker.
  • Go to restaurants with specials (ex. Cici's Pizza is $2.99 for all you can eat).
  • Sign up for frequent diner cards that will give you a free meal after purchasing a certain number of meals.
  • Dine at a place close to work so you don't spend extra money on gas.
