According to Wikipedia, Frugality is the practice of acquiring goods and services in a restrained manner, and resourcefully using already owned economic goods and services, to achieve a longer term goal.
We’ve covered a variety of ways to cut down on expenses on our SaveItUp Blog, but you can never have too many good ideas to help you save money. So, here’s some frugal ways to save even more:
Do It Yourself:
There are so many resources out there whether it’s online or free workshops at your local hardware store, doing things yourself is much easier now. From fixing broken items to updating a room in the house, try being a do-it-yourselfer. Also in this category, try grooming your dog yourself, or washing your car at home rather than at the car wash.
Buy Used:
Especially if you are taking up a new hobby, don’t spend money on new before you decide if you like it like golf or cycling. There are as many people “quitting” as there are starting, so there is no shortage of used equipment. Books and movies are great items to buy used as well.
Cut Out Extras:
Look at everything you are spending money on and make sure you are using them. Haven’t been to the gym in months? The only phone calls being made on your home phone are solicitations, or you don’t have time to watch movies. Cut out those costs, and you won’t even miss them, but you will have more money to save or spend on things you do use.
