The Credit Union Difference

Tuesday, 6 January 2009 09:31 by Chris

Do you know the difference between a Credit Union and a Bank?  I’ll admit, until I started working at FORUM CU over five years ago, I did not understand the difference.  There have been many instances lately where I have been talking to someone away from work and they ask me “Where do you work”.  When I tell them FORUM Credit Union, many times they have responded with “That is my Bank”.

Well, FORUM is not a bank, it is a Credit Union.  A Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative.  We are People helping People.

If you are a member of FORUM Credit Union, you are an owner of FORUM Credit Union.  Most businesses are established to be a benefit to the owners, whether the benefit is in the form of a higher stock price, or generating a profit to make the owner rich.  In our case, we are here to be a benefit to you, the members(owners) of FORUM Credit Union.

We want to benefit you by helping you and your family  improve your financial health in 2009.  We have several savings tools for you to use, such as CommonCents, or our new Crossover Money Market.  So, stop by any branch and talk to a FORUM representative about your specific situation, and let us be your partner to help you become stronger, financially, in 2009.

Happy New Year!
