TrueStory: Making Financial Literacy Personal

04/03/2025

April is National Financial Literacy Month. Your credit union is a strong advocate for financial literacy and we do our best to share financial education to benefit our members in a variety of formats through our website, our social channels, and our podcasts (Smarter Money Life, Career Dreams, and Household CFO). As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we have taken financial literacy a step further with a newer initiative at the credit union – SafisLife.

While it is important to provide relevant content, we believe it is an even better objective to tie-in this content with personal connection, coaching, and accountability. We feel SafisLife provides all three of these benefits.

  1. Personal Connection – The ease and convenience of digital self-serve financial literacy content is everywhere. However, if you have ever experienced a time when you wished you could bounce an idea or a question off a live human being, then you have found common ground with us and our SafisLife offering. We believe in the power of people helping people and this personal connection can help you process the abundance of information available and make sound decisions.
  2. Coaching – SafisLife is unique as you are connected to a financial coach at FORUM. This coach is your partner for all your questions and provides guidance on all aspects of your financial wellness. They can assist you with budgeting, credit score improvement, asset allocation, lifestyle planning, debt management, small dollar investing, and more.
  3. Accountability – As with any goal, it is often easier to achieve if you have an accountability partner. Your SafisLife financial coach and the program itself are designed to work side-by-side with you to help you achieve your financial dreams. We intentionally have a $9/month subscription fee to accomplish this accountability and to offset the cost of this service since we are a cooperative (members participating in the service pay for the service and it is not subsidized by non-participating members). The program offers a high-yield Prime Reserve Savings account to help you with your emergency savings and the dividends from this account can offset the subscription fee.

To celebrate National Financial Literacy Month, we have a corresponding SafisLife promotion. If you start your SafisLife subscription and open your Prime Reserve account before April 30, you will be entered to win a one-year subscription on us at no cost to you.
